When Wilma, 18—the most popular girl in high school and the apple of her parents’ eye—drowns in a lake, her sister Sofia, 17, is overwhelmed by conflicting emotions. Sofia’s grief is shadowed by bitterness, because no one knows how cruelly the “perfect” Wilma treated her. The mourning process is further complicated by strange marks found on Wilma’s body, which refuse to leave Sofia in peace. Sofia decides to uncover what really happened to Wilma. Nothing is quite as perfect as the surface of the lake—and of people—would have us believe.
